Had a very successful last day with Bob at Alaska today. I think we’ve finally managed to nail that bass sound we’ve all been searching for. Just waiting on a few more mixes from producer Dan Carey to be handed in and we’ll have the lot! Major butterflies.
Probably the most enjoyable festival we’ve ever been to as a band. 8 shows over 3 days, with enough time left over for Matthew Herbert, Jamie T, raving in Arcadia, sun rise on the hill, excessive amounts of walking about looking for things and of course, Stevie Wonder!
Massive thanks to everyone who came to see us or stumbled past and stopped to watch us at Stummerville, Poetry in Words, The Igloo, The Body Shop, The Rabbit Hole, The Pussy Parlure and The Magic Bubble. Special praise to anyone who showed up already wearing a Sound of Rum temporary tatoo!! Also thankyou to all the artist liason’s, stage managers, sound people and rickshaw riders who helped us make it happen!
We had such a good time that me and Kate refuse to admit we’ve come back home. Wrist bands staying on all summer this time. Watch out Berkavitch, might be a new King in town…
Oh and big up to the duck crew!
Another festival season approaches. This will be our 3rd year touring the season as a band. Kicking it off is Glastonbury, where we’ll be mixing up the acoustic, the full on set up and the plain and simple poetry set up across the course of the weekend. Possibly some busking too if we have any time left!
Strummerville Stage, Shangrila - opening for The King Blues – 2:00 in the morning
Pussy Parlure, Dance Field – 12:45
OneTaste, Shangrila – Kate Tempest Poetry Set – 14:30
Poetry & Words, Circus and Theatre – Sound of Rum acoustic 17:00
Body Shop, Shangrila – Time To Be Confirmed
Poetry & Words, Circus and Theatre – Sound of Rum acoustic 13:10
Rabbit Hole, Park - 15:00
Magic Bubble, Dance Field – 21:15
Hope to see you at some of the shows or around the fields. Any changes will be posted here.
We’ve now spent four days mixing at Alaska with Bob. The album is shaping up well. We have also recorded brand new versions of End Times and Prometheus. The years of playing Prometheus live are really starting to show in the recording! The bass sounds huge.
We’ve also been listening through some of the mixes Dan Carey has been doing for us, including new song “Give”. They’re all sounding incredible, as was to be expected from him!
